Never Back Down

Biography

„I’m breathing in and I finally feel alive.“

Welcome to the family! Since the founding of the band this motto has shaped the band Never Back Down like nothing else. Counting many years of experience in the music business, the young musicians from Germany have already built up a huge national and international fanbase. Everybody is welcome! It is not for nothing that the intros of the three already published records are dedicated to the long-lasting fans. The unique mixture of Hardcore-, Beatdown- and Metalcore-elements, with not only the powerful shouts but also the emotional and meaningful cleans, invites you to dance, sing along and party. Because of their unique style, Never Back Down can already look back to an enormous number of live concerts. With over 250 played concerts the band has already supported multiple national and international artists. Including: Our Mirage, Landmarks, Imminence, Any Given Day, Lionheart, Make them suffer, Novelists, The Browning, Rise of the Northstar, Emmure, Thy Art is Murder, Walls of Jericho and many more.

But there is still no end in sight! Following the motto: „We are the ones, who will remain“, the group reaches with their new record “Downfall”, which was released on October 7th 2022 and was once again produced by Timo Bonner of Our Mirage and Alleviate. The record marks a very personal journey as all of the lyrics are written from personal memories of losses and loneliness but also promising moments of love and friendship. Thus the group has taken the opportunity to revolutionize their style of music to convey their lived experiences even more detailed. The focus-single of the new record,”Fear Of Failure”, deals with the unexceptional fear to fail and to not be enough. To fight these feelings and distinguish their true value, Never Back Down has reached the next step on their evolution.

Overall, the band not only delivers an impressive collection of tracks with this EP, but also a clear outlook on their artistic future. The mix of innovation, lyrical depth and impressive production makes this release a highlight in the group's career. It remains exciting to see how their musical journey will develop in the coming years.

"Downfall" is a great album that draws balanced from old and new core and overall just sounds fresh. However, defacto we get only nine songs, unfortunately, because there are two for me not really useful intros on the album. And that's it actually. I can't really criticize more. The only question is to what extent the hype around German Core will also inspire the release of "Downfall". I really hope so, because Never Back Down prove how serious Core goes and will surely pick up fans of bands like Parkway Drive, Hands Like Houses and the old Novelists FR from the spot.

After the power quintet released their second major studio album "Overdrive" last year, it was not at all quiet. The guys are hardworking, "all in" and are in my opinion no longer an insider secret. Now about a year later, the musicians around frontman Daryl have further improved their sound on "Downfall" and worked out for them typical identifying features. Catchy, but in no way boring, melodies, strong guitar riffs, raging drums, striking shouts and strong clean vocals are on the menu!

The quintet from North Rhine-Westphalia plays first-class, contemporary metalcore with all kinds of exciting influences and compositions on their new album "Downfall". In addition, there are deep lyrics that are based on personal experiences and reflect the spectrum from loss to loneliness to hope and friendship. All this forms a melting, which from the first to the last second of the almost 37 minutes total playing time of "Downfall" results in an all-around harmonious unity.

"Downfall" has accomplished that even after the tenth listen the album still doesn't sound boring and is still fun to listen to. Even if much of the album is rather "standard metalcore", NBD stand out from the crowd and prove their right to be the talk of the town. One must and can not always reinvent the wheel and that's good. Otherwise it would hardly be possible, in a little over a year only, to step directly with such a high quality album in the footsteps of "Overdrive". The boys from NRW have a bright future awaiting them...
