APHYXION is a fiction yet to be told…
These guys bring us some Danish Dynamite nurtured in their unlikely hometown Ribe in south-west Denmark, a small town with a population around 8,000. They probably are one of the oldest young bands you’ll be able to find – and also one of the biggest small bands you’ll get to.
They are old because the quintet formed the band around ten years ago, at a time when they hardly tapped into teenagerhood. They are young because in spite of their highly prrofessional experience level they’re all still in their early twenties. They are small because they obviously haven’t had anything close to a number one album yet. They are big because they would already have won a Grammy if the category ”future potential” existed.
Metal Hammer UK expressed an early glimpse of the band’s perspective when they named APHYXION the ”saviors of melodic death metal” and ”one of the most exciting bands in Europe”. They were the youngest band ever to play at Wacken Open Air and already got some first league support opportunities opening up for the likes of Metallica, Soilwork and Soulfly, accumulating more than 100 shows all over Europe until today.
APHYXION are not ones to succumb to genre definitions, and the release of their third full-length album ‘Void’ in 2019 marked the switch from their death metal heritage towards a more contemporary metalcore sound, creating something that already elevated the band to a new level. This band keeps moving boundaries, for themselves but also for their ever growing followership. Now they are on the verge of stepping into proper public awareness. Change comes slowly, slowly, and then all of a sudden. Stay tuned and you may catch the moment of a band exploding into what even major companies would call absolutely relevant in today’s music scene.
